My thoughts on the Unlimited Blade Works movie...

I like to think I'm not the type of person who easily gives in to hype...but DAMN it's hard not to when its something this EPIC! After 4 years since the airing of Fate/Stay Night, my two favorite characters in the show finally take center stage and get the attention they so richly deserve in the anime movie based on the Unlimited Blade Works route of the visual novel by Type-Moon.

I'm assuming those of you who read this already know what I'm talking about. But for those of you who are new to the delightfully-delicious-colorful-and-potentially-maddening world of the anime-otaku culture and even those of my kind who have miraculously never heard of Unlimited Blade Works(I think highly unlikely by now) or even heard of Fate/Stay Night(I say impossible) allow me to briefly explain both in my own terms:

Fate/Stay Night is basically what you'd get if you summoned all those famous myths and legends we hear and love(at least I do) from literature class, and have them kick each others asses while playing who's who with each other based on how they kick ass, until there is only one left standing to take the ultimate prize.

Unlimited Blade Works is, in this blogger's humble opinion, the most awesome of the possible routes in the visual novel. I mean COME ON! Even if you prefer the other routes those of you who have seen it have GOT to agree with its awesomeness(while those who haven't I think are seriously missing out on something grand) and who can possibly dislike a route where the main heroine is RIN...I repeat RIN...RIN! RIIINNN!

I mean look at this!

LOOK at this!

LOOK AT THIS!

LOOOOOK AT THIIIIS!!! (and some Sakura for good measure^_^)

And THEN you tell me she isn't made of win! Now those who of you who belong the Saber faction of the fandom don't get me wrong; I was originally a Saber fan-still am, but my loyalties have changed quite considerably as time went by. When I first found out about FSN in an anime magazine I didn't really think much of her character aside from thinking she looked really, really hot. But then I watched the anime, and my god she was so fucking moe it hurt. I don't think she is even supposed to be moe and yet I still found her heartstealingly adorable. And then came the game...and that was it; THAT sealed the deal for me...

...there was no turning back.

Of course, Rin isn't the only reason for the epicness UBW. How can we forget this guy:

Ah yes, Archer. A man so manly the English language didn't have a word to properly describe him, and was forced to invent the term "GAR"; which now, only those who have proven themselves to be made of pure testosterone can ever hope to earn and Archer is the man where it all came from. Those of you have seen the anime, knows what the hell I mean. Those who have not; should. And see for themselves. (The guy uses freaking swords as arrows for crying out loud! How can that NOT be awesome! Plus that red jacket! And that cool skirt!) Archer really should have been onscreen more. The show never got boring for me when he and Rin where around. But the funny thing is that I found out that his awesomeness was actually downplayed in the anime and after seeing the UBW route in the VN, I ended up thinking that even the rapture and wholesome-manly-ecstasy I felt while watching him in action wasn't enough to do him justice. Told you it was a cool skirt ^_^ (Hard to imagine he's actually Shirou Emiya's future self)

Eh, but enough of that. After much wishing and waiting Fate/ Stay Night Unlimited Blade Works has been released in Japan since January 23, 2010. Now all I've got to do is wait for the fansub and then I'll give you my review on whether or not it lives up its high expectations.

(Now I just hope they didn't mess this up)

Oh and here's some fanservice ^_^ courtesy of the FSN girls.(Aren't they cute)
